OrbisX Review: The Closest Rival for a Shop With a Van

OrbisX scores best of the rivals on the three shop criteria, and it earns that on its own pages: customers pick shop or mobile on the booking form, and appointments carry a pickup and drop-off list with rides and lockbox codes. It falls short at the bay itself, because its booking limits overlapping appointments per time slot rather than counting bays, and its only published price is a $100 promotion.

80.0 / 100, ranked #2 of 6. Mobile Service Sync scores 100.0. Best for: A detail, tint or PPF shop that wants a polished booking form and unlimited users on a single plan.

OrbisX in the Bay and on the Road

OrbisX handles the hybrid part properly. Its booking form lets the customer choose the shop or a mobile visit, booking holds to daily limits, overlap limits and a service radius, and distance surcharges can be added. Its appointments page lists pickup and drop-off, rides and lockbox codes, which covers more of a shop's handover than most software publishes.

The bay count is where it stops short. Its pages describe limits on overlapping appointments in a time slot, not a count of bays held for the full length of a job, and the score sheet marks that as partial.

On the van side, OrbisX scans a VIN or a plate and saves vehicles per client, and its mobile detailer page says its route planning cuts travel time and fuel. The iOS and Android apps come with unlimited users. Its site says nothing about working without signal, and stock is one count rather than one per van.

Texting runs through your own Twilio, Dialpad or Quo account, or pay-per-use credits, and automatic Google review requests go out after service. The single plan is shown at $100 a month as a limited-time promotional price, with optional premium setup from $250 and a 30-day free trial.

Where Mobile Service Sync Goes Further

Mobile Service Sync matches OrbisX on the drop-off or mobile choice and on the handover, then counts the bays: an online drop-off opens only while a bay is free for the whole job, and mobile jobs never take one. Two-way texting is included on Core rather than run through an account you bring, stock is counted per van and per shop, the app keeps working with no signal, and $49 is a list price, month to month.

Mobile Service Sync lays out the full side by side on its own site: Mobile Service Sync vs OrbisX.

Questions About OrbisX

Is OrbisX good for a detail shop that also goes mobile?
Yes, OrbisX is one of the better fits: its booking form lets the customer choose shop or mobile, and its appointments cover pickup, drop-off, rides and lockbox codes. Its booking limits overlaps per time slot rather than counting bays, and it does not say whether its app works without signal.
How much does OrbisX cost?
OrbisX shows one plan at $100 a month with every feature and unlimited users, listed as a limited-time promotional price, so no regular list price is published. Optional premium setup starts at $250, texting runs through Twilio, Dialpad, Quo or pay-per-use credits, and there is a 30-day free trial.
Does OrbisX count bays on online booking?
Not by bay, going by its own pages. OrbisX sets daily limits and limits overlapping appointments per time slot, which this site scores as partial for bay capacity.
